Although an increasing amount of literature on the water and sanitation difficulties faced by female during menstruation, women’s menstrual hygiene management (MHM) in the workplace is scarce.

The possible menstrual hygiene management challenges experienced by adolescent girls and women in low- and middle-income nations’ job contexts. Water and sanitation-related challenges, particularly in regard to managing monthly menstruation, have received insufficient attention, which may impede girls’ and women’s contributions to the workplace, as well as their health and wellbeing. It is critical to document the particular social and environmental barriers they may face in relation to menstrual management, to cost the consequences of insufficiently supportive workplace environments for menstrual hygiene management, and to comprehend the implications for girls’ and women’s health and wellbeing.

The nature of their profession adds to the MHM problems experienced by working adolescent girls and women. A high number of women work in the corporate sector, which typically does not meet appropriate WASH standards that are supportive of MHM.
